Matte Painting

At the moment I am teaching myself matte painting. This is my first full attempt at a matte from an exercise in the Ballistic book "D'artiste, matte painting 2" The original is by Max Dennison.
Its painted from scratch, first blocking in the mountain shapes with colour. Then I brought in textures and started to add these to the mountains.
It is good fun but I have a lot to learn!

  1. Hello

Did you go to University of Wolverhampton, Fine Art 1994? I am trying to locate all of the graduates from that cohort and there was a Martin Oliver - it's a long shot but are you the same one?

    Kindest Regards

  3. Thank you very much for the nice comments. I'm at a very early learning stage but hope to have a new matte up soon! I will also put on some of my short films. That wasn't me at Wolverhampton, I went straight from a foundation course in art and design to work in the animation industry.
